Peugeot e-2008 boot space, practicality and safety

2020 onwards (change model)
Practicality rating: 4 out of 54.0

Written by Keith Adams Updated: 4 December 2023

  • Same space as regular 2008
  • And the boot is the same size too
  • Ideal for a small family

How much space is there?

Practicality is one area where the e-2008 genuinely shines. In some cases, electric cars can have smaller boots (more so in plug-in hybrid cars) than their engine-driven counterparts, but the e-2008 boasts the same spacious interior and large boot as the regular 2008 – one of the more spacious small SUVs on the market.

Consequently, four adults will fit comfortably thanks to generous rear space, with seat bases angled more than normal to create a bit more room for your legs. Long distance trips are a realistic proposition, as are load-heavy IKEA sessions. Headroom is generous once you’re in, but the roof is a little lower than in a Kona Electric or Niro EV.

Up front, there’s plenty of space to stretch out, with the same clever storage areas to keep all your bits and bobs in place.

Boot space and storage

In the boot, there’s 434 litres of space, which is exactly the same as the regular 2008. If you don’t need all that capacity, you can stick the two-level boot floor in its highest position. This means you don’t get a lip to load things over, and the seat backs are flush with the boot floor when you fold them down.

Is it easy to park?

The Peugeot e-2008 is based on the 208 supermini, which means there aren’t too many issues fitting into the all but the tightest of parking spaces. Rear three-quarter visibility over your shoulder is poor, and it’s difficult to judge the corners of the car.

Mirrors are good, and all models get rear parking sensors with Allure adding front sensors and GT a rear-view camera. There are also a few options depending on your model. But in reality, the e-2008 will pose few issues, even when parking without using driver aids.

Safety

  • Plenty of safety kit available
  • Including driver assistance tech
  • Five-star Euro NCAP rating in 2019

The e-2008 is available with a wide range of driver assistance technology to keep you out of trouble on the move. Not all of it comes as standard, though, with lower-spec models doing without some key equipment. That means it gets a four-star Euro NCAP crash safety rating, while higher-spec models gain a full five stars.

An adaptive cruise control system with a stop and go function is available, as well as lane-keep assist and a lane-positioning system to maintain position in the lane. These are part of the Drive Assist Plus package.

There’s also automatic emergency braking, automatic parking, lane-departure warning, a driver alertness warning, automatic high-beam, blindspot monitoring and traffic sign recognition. All of this kit comes on higher-spec cars with a Safety Pack fitted, while lower-spec cars come with some (but not all) of it.
