  • Panoramic digital displays look fantastic
  • Few physical buttons, but works reasonably well
  • Great material quality

How is the quality and layout?

Peugeot has really lifted its car interiors in recent years and the e-3008 has one of the best yet. It was the first model from the French firm to get the new Panoramic i-Cockpit display, which brings a seriously modern flavour to the interior.

Made up from two screens combined together, these are curved around the driver, creating a similar impression to that found in other premium interiors, such as many recent BMWs. Peugeot’s material quality is also generally excellent, with a new recycled wool-like material used across the dashboard and door cards. This is similar to the approach taken by the latest Mini Countryman and is a great alternative to usual soft-touch plastics or leather.

Peugeot e-3008 dashboard is very Star Trek, but we're not convinced by its functionality.
A 21.0-inch curved screen is a real highlight of the interior.

There are a few ergonomic issues, however. One being that the heated seats are controlled by the touchscreen and can be difficult to operate. Also, the gloss black buttons that run along the sculpted centre console feel quite cheap in contrast to the rest of the interior.

Infotainment and tech

As we’ve mentioned, the e-3008 was the first Peugeot to get the latest iteration of the firm’s i-Cockpit interior design. Previously, the main infotainment screen and digital dial display were separated, but now they’re merged together in a brilliant 21.0-inch HD display that curves around the driver’s field of view.

It carries over aspects from the latest Peugeot 308 and Peugeot 408, however, including customisable i-Toggles. These are essentially digital shortcut keys that can be configured to suit your most-used features, such as calling a certain person or playing your favourite radio station.

Finally, there’s a new design for Peugeot’s small steering wheel with gloss black buttons for the infotainment and dashboard. Sadly, these aren’t the most ergonomically-designed and can feel a bit cheap to press.

Comfort

  • High-quality seats offer great support
  • Massage and electric functions available
  • Driving position is much-improved

Peugeot’s i-Cockpit design, which previously featured a combination of a small steering wheel and digital instrument cluster positioned above you, didn’t suit all drivers, especially taller folk who often found the top of the steering wheel getting in the way of the main dials. Peugeot’s new setup is a big improvement in this respect, with displays that are no longer restricted by the position of the steering wheel.

While ride comfort is not so good – we’ll explore this on the following page of this review – the seats in the 3008 are excellent, offering plenty in the way of support. The seats are optionally also heated, ventilated and even massaging. Though be warned, adding all this to car can get expensive and is unlikely to translate into much higher resale value.
