Peugeot RCZ Coupe (2010 - 2015) 1.6 THP R 2d Owner Review

In their own words
I've owned my R for 5 years now, she is a weekend toy and great fun to drive, that said, she does have her problems. The engine is pretty reliable, more than the standard unit in the 156 & 200 THP because its fully forged but there have still been a couple with tensioner issues (there is an uprated part on MK2's) so its less likely to have problems with the timing chain. Servicing needs to be done on time and to the manufacturers specifications (10k or 12 months including spark plugs). Note this car has some expensive parts, like the brake discs at £1200 amd £400 for the pads, discs are available only from the dealer (Alcon wont supply these off the shelf) Tarox do a comparable set but they are not that much cheaper, on average you should get 50k out of them on normal use. I would suggest buying from a main dealer or speciallist, get the car checked over by a mechanic if you are buying one as faults can be expensive amd ensure the oil is spot on and the correct 0w30 grade. Some other issues are that the LSD can make some noise (clunking) when turning, its normal, if it makes noise at any time then its going to cost you (a supposedly sealed for life unit, recommend changing the oil before 60k miles in it). Brake calipers can suffer corrosion on the pistons, if outside the warranty then you are looking at £800 for new calipers or just under £500 to have them re furbished with seals and stainless pistons. Over all its a great little car for the money and if possible, take out an extended warranty (if from a Peugeot dealer they will let you extend their used car warranty for upto 10 years orr 100,000 miles, whichever comes first.
