Porsche 911 Coupe 1983-
  • Economy

    Value

    4 out of 5 4.0

Pricey, but not compared to a new performance car.

    Costs

    4 out of 5 4.0

Stick to specialists and look after it and it will not cost too much over the odds. Having said that, always keep a couple of grand in the bankjust in case.

    Driving

    5 out of 5 5.0

It's a blast!!! Especially living in Germany.

    Performance

    5 out of 5 5.0

    Absoluty ""hair on end"" stuff!

  • Living with it

    Reliability

    5 out of 5 5.0

Tremendously reliable for a car of this age and with the rough ride it gets from me.

    Image

    5 out of 5 5.0

    Not only a Porsch-a, but a 911 at that!

    Comfort

    3 out of 5 3.0

Definitely not a ""cruiser"", more of a "blaster"! Noisy inside - but then again, you don't often get a more raspy engine so close to your ears.

  • Security and Service

    Security

    3 out of 5 3.0

This age car has no ABS or other driver assistance. It sure feels solid and safe, but would not like to "test" it.

    Service

    1 out of 5 1.0

The key is finding a specialist that knows these "old" cars as at the dealers they are generally trained in the new models and don't know these models very well. Also, you don't want to be paying Official Porsche hourly rates.

  • Problems and Ownership

    Problems

    Engine

A small leak in the engine. This was cured when by changing the oil pressure gauge/valve - dunno exactly what it was, but it is cured 100%.

    Other

Rear right wheel bearing went - the rubber ""glove"" was broken and I didn't pick this up in time.

    Ownership

Did you buy the car new?

    Used

Would you buy the same model again?

    No

Did you buy from the same manufacturer again?

    Yes
