Summary
What does this car say about you?
I have always wanted a 911 even from before I could drive, so I don't care what people think about me - it was a very selfish purchase.
What do your friends / family / neighbours think of the car?
I have always owned sports cars - from hot hatches (Ford Escort XR3, RS Turbo, Peogeut 205 GTi, Honda CRX, Toyota MR2, Honda S2000 and previously a Cayman S). So my friends are used to me driving around in sports cars, they all like it as well and I have given a number of "test" drives to most of them.
Would you buy this car again and why?
Absolutely - it's a 911. It's not that expensive to run and live with - servicing is only every 2 years, road tax isn't prohibitive. And I get high 20s normally on the fuel consumption.
What are you likely to buy next?
Hopefully another Porsche 911 - if i can still fit the family in, if not then probably have to get a "family car" - a Porsche Cajun?

Buying experience
Type of dealer you bought from?
Franchised
Did you buy this car new?
No
What price did you pay?
£50,000
When did you buy the car?
May 2012
Did you get a good deal and why?
The new 911 (the 991 version) had just been launched and this was the dealer's demo model. It was also the end of the month so got a good discount.
Is there any special reason why you bought this car?
It's a 911, there should be no other reason required!
What was the dealer like?
Fine - normal Porsche dealer experience - ie good.

Driving it
What's it like to drive?
An absolute blast. I had a Cayman S before and that was good, but the 911 makes a similar noise and is quicker. It is more of a GT car, so it is fairly comfortable on a run as well as being fun if you have the right road and are in the mood.
What's it like to park?
Usual issues with a low sports car, can't get near the kerbs and can't really see the back corner of the car, but you learn to judge where they are.

Living with it
Have you had any problems with the car?
Nothing, apart from a slightly squeaky spoiler (that you only hear when the car is stationary) and it was fixed under the warranty.
What's most practical about your car?
The "better half" as well as my 5 year old daughter can fit in the car comfortably and we can get 2 suitcases in the boot - so it is a family car. I also (if you don't cane it) get 30mpg out of it on a long run.
Favourite gadget, option or accessory?
Heated seats came with the car and I have never had them before - they are nice in the winter months. And the built-in sat nav is excellent.
