Should you buy one?

Yes, because there’s nothing quite like a Porsche 911. It remains an involving sports car that just so happens to have become a luxury product over time, and the latest revisions only enhance the experience, putting it ahead of the AMG GT and Aston Martin Vantage. A hybrid 911 might not sound very exciting, but trust Porsche to develop a system like this on track before offering a version perfected for the road.

You don’t have to stretch all the way to a GTS or GT3, though. A basic Carrera with a few options is a great thing, and the Carrera T adds a manual gearbox and hopefully a bit more focus to the driving experience for not much extra.

It is possible to get very carried away with Porsche’s seemingly never-ending options list, to the point you’ll be doubling the price of the car. We can recommend upgrading the seats, adding the Sports Chrono package, sports exhaust and a few luxuries, but you can spend a fortune in extended leather, bodykits and all sorts of other bits and pieces.
