Porsche 928 (1979 - 1995) Series 4 FH 2d Auto Owner Review
In their own words
For an old German hatchback, the 928 is an outstanding grand-tourer. Allegedly seating 4 (but really only 2 unless you have a couple of very small children), the 928 provides practical, if expensive, motoring pleasure. Expensive only in that the design dates from the mid-70s, from before the oil crisis of the 70's, and so you have a old design of engine aimed at entirely different priorities to the modern vehicles. However, you can fit an ag-bag of garden waste in the boot with the rear seats folded, it'll pootle to the shops perfectly happily, it'll lose to the red-light brigade at the lights (but batter past them up to 180mph for the next 300 miles), and you feel comfortable and cushioned whilst driving it anywhwere. Niggles are there, due to the age of the device and the tendency of some owners to ignore servicing/care, but in something this good, who cares? There really isn't a comparable two-seater grand tourer out there, versatile enough to take two of us for a day's diving with four air cylinders, kit, wetsuits and spare clothes, all whilst allowing the pilot to enjoy the sensation of driving and the passenger to read and listen to the music system.
