Summary
What does this car say about you?
I don't have children and I don't like to date big girls? Neither would really fit in there.
What do your friends / family / neighbours think of the car?
Too much money? But too little money for a 911? Bit of a show-off? Frankly I neither know nor care - I bought it to impress me, not to impress my neighbours. They drive a Focus, they are beyond impressing.
Would you buy this car again and why?
Yes, without hesitation. It's practical, economical, holds its value, fantastic to drive, beautiful looks - it's the perfect car for me.
What are you likely to buy next?
Just bought a 981 S. It's the only car that's better than the 987. I tested a 997 - but it's twice the price and on a British road it's no better.

Buying experience
Type of dealer you bought from?
Independent
Did you buy this car new?
No
What price did you pay?
£17,000
When did you buy the car?
September 2010
Did you get a good deal and why?
Reasonable deal, considering comparable prices at the time.
Is there any special reason why you bought this car?
I was actually went to test-drive an SLK. But the Boxster was parked next to it at the dealer - in every way possible it blew the SLK out of the water.
What was the dealer like?
Just average. Like any dealer, they just wanted to shift the car for as much cash as possible.

Driving it
What's it like to drive?
Round town, it's OK. Just OK. Over potholes it's uncomfortable. On a motorway, it's tolerable - but loud and a little harsh. But on an open road, with a few corners, it is unbeatable. Believe me - it is well worth putting up with in a town or on a motorway! The rewards by far outweigh the slight disadvantages.
What's it like to park?
Reasonable. Visibility isn't great but the steering is light and they've all got rear parking radar, so it's OK.

Living with it
Have you had any problems with the car?
Exhaust bolts failed and had to be replaced. That's it - that's everything that ever went wrong. I caned it every chance I got, I drove it until it had 92,000 miles on it - and the only thing that went wrong were the exhaust bolts.
What's most practical about your car?
Actually, shockingly practical! Boots front and back, takes a lot of luggage. There's only two seats so you only ever need to carry luggage for 2 people - and for that there's acres of space.
Favourite gadget, option or accessory?
The engine. Not really a gadget or accessory, but it's by far the best bit of the car. It's the sweetest, smoothest, most free-revving engine I've ever met. And it sounds absolutely fantastic!
