The GEN-2 range hasn’t been crash tested by Euro NCAP. But all models have driver and passenger airbags, an anti-lock braking system, crumple zones, side impact bars and rollover protection. Security is taken care of by an alarm, immobiliser and remote central locking.

With 460 litres of boot space the GEN-2 has a good sized load area that is considerably larger than other hatchbacks like the Ford Focus or Vauxhall Astra. However, the high sill makes loading heavy items a little difficult. For increased capacity, the rear seats can be split and folded down. The interior lacks a glovebox, but the centre console, complete with a useful armrest, is good for storing CDs and valuables.
