Proton Persona Saloon 1.6 SEi 4d (1995/N) Owner Review

Economy
Value
Depends what you paid for it. They are excellent second-hand value.
Costs
Brilliant! Perhaps the first comsumable car as they don't really need servicing. Just change the oil and filter and keep it away from main dealers. I did service mine twice in £160,000 miles.

Driving
The Sei has a second anti-roll bar so the handling isn't so bad. Driving is easy and similar to a Fiesta. Goes where you put it but some body roll when extreme.
Performance
Depends what you mean. It's about 100bhp per ton with reasonable torque.

Living with it
Reliability
Brilliant! In 160k miles the windscreen wiper linkage and cigarette lighter failed at 80k. The outer seal on the rain roof goes and thats about it. Disk pads did 130,000 miles and I thrashed it.
Image
I dress at Matalan. Image is somebody else's problem.
Comfort
4 for the driver and 2 for the person sitting behind him. Cabin ergonomics could be better as there is an excess of space in the front but tall drivers need the seat well back and cramp the rear. But very comfortable to drive on long distances.

Security and Service
Security
But nobody steals them! I usually left mine unlocked.
Service
Er, I keep away from them.
