Renault 5 GTX Prima 3d (1989/G) Owner Review
-
Economy
Value
You can pick a good example up for cheap.
Costs
Clutches are expensive to replace but apart from that not too bad.
-
On the road
Driving
Drive all over the country in it!
Performance
1.7 engine in a small car - only second to the turbo but will leave most older quick cars standing.
-
Living with it
Reliability
The only recurring problem is the clutch cable snapping but they cost a tenner each and about £20 to fit.
Image
Good standard bodykit, front fogs, if you put alloys on and lower it, it will look similar to a turbo.
Comfort
You could sleep in the seats, they are like armchairs.

Security and Service
Security
Some come with alarms and immob but apart from that security can be quite poor - although mine has never been broken into.
Service
Depends on your local Renault service agents - mine are poor but it's not fair to say they all are.

Sound mostly, at 15 years old it has minor repairs needed from time to time but nothing serious.

The nicest car I've ever had, I am loyal to the end!
