Renault Clio 1.2 Liberte 5d (1994/L) Owner Review

Economy
Value
Given its reliability and running costs, its superb on value.
Costs
Over the 280,000miles of good motoring I found parts cheap as for any other make, specially with Renault pattern after-market items. Remarkable fuel economy - 1.2 petrol returned 51mpg religiously logged after every refill.

On the road
Driving
Bland, unexciting, lack-lustre, no va-va-vroom.
Performance
No va-va-vroom. Overall performance adequate. Motorway cruising 70mph not a problem.

Living with it
Reliability
Utterly reliable. Did 280,000miles on original engine & clutch (1 new head gasket, new water pump). Cabin heating a weak point.
Image
Just like Nicole's car. Small but nippy and practical.
Comfort
OK, but not a lot of headroom (I'm 5ft8in) with a built-in sunroof.

Security and Service
Security
Got broken into twice, using screwdriver through lock slot. Horrible damage. Nothing worthy was stolen.
Service
I got 1st class service from all sorts of 3rd party servicing.
