Renault Clio 1.2 Night & Day 3d (1992/K) Owner Review

Economy
Value
Got it second hand. One lady owner for £600 and the engine is good and the body's nearly mint.
Costs
Had it 6 months, driven daily. No problems yet and Fuel economy is good. Very slow drinking petrol 'til down to half a tank, then it seems to drink more!

On the road
Driving
Smooth driving. Quiet and cosy.
Performance
It's no Pocket rocket, but pick short roads to race on i.e. with traffic lights and the acceleration beats many of the big cars off the mark! Nippy, but top speed is a lot to be desired with only 4 gears.

Living with it
Reliability
Manual choke! Wahoo. Pull it out and it starts first time EVERY morning, ANY weather conditions.
Image
My 'night and day' model is jet black and as much as it's no flash sporty car, does look like a beauty. (Better after a bit of Turtle Wax!)
Comfort
Really quiet engine and cosy seats. Why do all the older cars have comfier seats in comparison to todays newer cars!? (I'm not complaining!)

Security and Service
Security
No immobiliser. Managed to unlock the doors and start it with my house key! (good if you lose your car keys... Bad if you want to keep your car more than 5 minutes!)
Service
Renault garages are overpriced and don't really want to know if your cars over 4 years old! Stick with the independant garages!

Problems and Ownership
Problems
Engine
Great little motor! Only 1.1 engine in the models, down to being out of a Renault 5 instead of actual Clio engine so there's NO catalytic converter! Less money to spend if it went wrong and more BHP!
Other
Cigarette lighter and reverse lights don't work. Not down to fuses. Needs a look at.
