Renault Clio 1.2 RL 3d (96) (1997/R) Owner Review

Economy
Value
Second hand for its condition and mileage, the price was good in my book.
Costs
Owner maintenance helps keep costs down and driven sensably it is rather cheap to fuel.

On the road
Driving
Corners well even when being thrashed. Lifts good for a 1200cc 8-valve.
Performance
Come on it's only 1200cc 8-valve, it's never going to beat a Subaru Impreza off the lights unless he's asleep.

Living with it
Reliability
Hasn't went wrong yet, fingers crossed.
Image
Granny car as standard, nicely modified it will look as good as the rest.
Comfort
Good ride quality and seats are comfortable, in comparison to a 96 old shape 1.0 litre 106 the Clio is by far the more comfortable.

Security and Service
Security
With new Mercs and BMWs out there which are nicer looking, better trimmed and a lot faster, who in their right mind would want to nick a 97 Clio? So just park next to a BMW or something similar and when you come back BMW's stolen and the Clio remains!
Service
Find a good local mechanic - he'll do a good job an will probably be cheaper.
