Economy
Value
2nd hand cheap these days. Cost me £450 for a 1993 in 2003, full MOT ect, new engine.
Costs
Amount of mantanence lead to it being scraped after 3 weeks!

On the road
Driving
As it's diesel, it's heavy. But for that it's glued to road. Good in country. Stable, comfortable ride.
Performance
I drove at 45-50mph to test mpg in 1.9 D - got nearly 60mpg - good if you can go slow. 45mpg at over 50 in any way it seemed.

Living with it
Reliability
Well it died on me TOTALY. What a crock.
Image
Good in its day. Being 2004 today, it's dated, but what can you do if you're cheap enough to buy one now?
Comfort
End of day, it's a Clio. Small car, not a executive's dream but seats are comfortable and the heavy 1.9D doesn't body roll at all - might as well be on tracks.

Security and Service
Security
What do you mean security? It's a Clio... who cares?
Service
Renault dealers parts section were ignorant and need to learn how to talk to people respectively. Being under 20, I was effectively treated like @~'T. Was no need.

Problems and Ownership
Problems
Engine
Major fault in the 1.9 D for Renault also in the extra van water pump fails without warning and in most models NO temp guage, so first thing you know is when red temp light comes on and you have just fried your engine beyond repair, would cost around £700
Other
Personaly, I think the 1.2 petrol unit is basicaly bulletproof, but the diesel has a major design fault and God himself can say when it will stop. Water pump fins fall off and it keeps spinning so no warning and no water pumped frys head on you boils it.
Ownership
Did you buy the car new?
Used
Would you buy the same model again?
No
Did you buy from the same manufacturer again?
Yes
