    Value

    5 out of 5 5.0

Stiff residuals and a seller's market for this homologation limited production car (about 400 RHD examples of each Williams, 2 and 3 respectively). Less VFM than a Clio 16V, but a pretty safe place for your £5k.

    Costs

    4 out of 5 4.0

Renault parts and servicing expensive. Williams shares many parts with 16V, but some very hard to come by - e.g. shocks and exhaust manifold.

Still without peer unanimously rated as somewhere between "The Best Hot Hatch Ever" and "the most exciting front wheel drive machine ever created". Not bad eh?

    Performance

    5 out of 5 5.0

One of the few cars that really is quicker than book times - the F7R unit frees up considerably with mileage. Typical 1/4 mile mid to high 14 secs (rapid). 2nd gear only does 57mph - misleading 0-60.

  • Living with it

    Reliability

    4 out of 5 4.0

My particular car is without fault, but having previously owned a 16V I know there are some bills to come. About average for a hot hatch.

    Modern classic.

    Comfort

    4 out of 5 4.0

Ride is quite a lot harsher than a 16V (previous car). Very comfortable seats.

  • Security and Service

    Security

    3 out of 5 3.0

Not excellent. Easy to gain entry, so fit appropriate security.

  • Problems and Ownership

    Problems

    Engine

None so far. The F7P/R (16V/Williams) unit is tough and good for the miles.
