  • Summary

    2 out of 5 2.0

What does this car say about you?

Doesn't like stopping at petrol stations much and doesn't want to give the government much in the way of road tax.

What do your friends / family / neighbours think of the car?

Think it is the most expensive car we've owned due to the amount of work we've had done to it!! But we'll drive it until it falls apart!

Would you buy this car again and why?

No - the economy and road tax are great but the French don't make their cars to last (18K service intervals are a joke - 9 - 10K should be the max on any car). Need a bigger car for the kids, 3-doors not overly practical.

What are you likely to buy next?

Cheap one! Old SAAB 9-3, Mitsubishi Galant, Ford Fiesta but if my missus gets her way an expensive Toyota Rav-4.

    £1,850

    April 2009

Cheap compared to others of the same age and condition as it was a ex company car the company were trying to get rid of it.

Is there any special reason why you bought this car?

Cheap road tax, good MPG, Wife liked it!

    What was the dealer like?

    Brought private.

  • Driving it

    5 out of 5 5.0

    What's it like to drive?

Nippy little car, lots of torque, runs out of steam around 90mph but excellent around town, fast A roads. Put decent tyres on it as budgets make it slide in the corners.

    What's it like to park?

    Easy, small and good visibility.

  • Living with it

    1 out of 5 1.0

Have you had any problems with the car?

Engine needed to be replaced after 105K due to the stupidly long service intervals put on it by Renault (18k is too long as the oil turns to tar) - bottom end bearings had gone. Rear drum shoes had to be replaced as linings had become detached and jammed the drums solid, alternator failed giving intermittent charge on battery, one glow plug siezed in engine block. Hard to start, engine management light on permenantly but no fault codes, TDC sensor needed replacing - £13 from GSF, £165 from Renault - con!!!!

What's most practical about your car?

65MPG+ even with poor starting, once running doesn't miss a beat. Nippy little car, cheap parts when brought from anywhere bar Renault.

    Favourite gadget, option or accessory?

65MPG, 700+ miles from a tank, only car bar my Peugot 205 1.9D that has done this!!!! £30 per year road tax!!
