Summary
What does this car say about you?
When it was new it was a bit flashy and all my friends liked it. My car before the Clio's had been a Mini, so I guess I felt a bit more grown up
What do your friends / family / neighbours think of the car?
They all liked the look and design of the car to begin with. Now they think I'm ginxed and should scrap it!
Would you buy this car again and why?
I will never buy another Rennault again. Purely and simply due to the build quality of the car and absolutely disgusting customer services from Rennault UK.
What are you likely to buy next?
A Ford Focus

Buying experience
Type of dealer you bought from?
Franchise
Did you buy this car new?
Yes
What price did you pay?
£8,999
When did you buy the car?
November 2002
Did you get a good deal and why?
Not really, in fact I probably lost money as I had only had my previous Clio for little under a year. Unfortunately neither the dealer or Rennault UK would take responsiblity for the old Clio's faults so I traded it in for a new on. I should have walked away at this point.
Is there any special reason why you bought this car?
I traded in my previous Clio due to the Ignition Coils failing repeatedly, so I wanted a newer version that I thought would be more reliable.
What was the dealer like?
Cardiff Rennault were Very helpful until after I signed the contract.

Driving it
What's it like to drive?
As I have previously mentioned when the car isn't breaking down - which is fairly often - the car drives like a dream. The car is really nippy, has a great gearbox and is light on the steering. I drive long distance regularly, which the car handles well and this is equally so when driving country lanes or about town.
What's it like to park?
Reverse parking is really easy - great for newly qualified drivers
-
Living with it
Have you had any problems with the car?
Everything!!!! On this Clio the Ignition Coils have failed SIX times, the idle timeing has never been right, the Top Deck Sensor has failed twice and finally last month the Throttle Body went. Regardless of whether the car was under the 3 year warranty or under 60,000 Rennault UK have refused to accept liability for the repairs and deny that any of the faults are in any way related.
What's most practical about your car?
It was great when I was childless. It was good about town and on the motorway -when it wasn't breaking down. But now I am pregnant with my second child, there isn't anything practical about the car for me.
Favourite gadget, option or accessory?
On board computer that tells you how much petrol is left in the tank
