In their own words
A great car for a blast around country roads which is equally good as a daily driver. I did over 80k miles in mine over the time I owed it and with the regular servicing, had very few problems with it. Very pleasing considering it had been a cat D write off at a Year with a previous owner. The handling is spot on with plenty of grip. Mine had the optional ‘cup’ packs so the suspension was slightly lower and the styling, with anthracite alloys and slightly larger rear spoiler made it look even better. The twin exit rear exhaust and the xenon headlights are a great visual improvement on the 172.
Items that come as standard like cruise control, traction control and the Xenons help to make it a great daily driver.
The servicing costs are too bad, apart from the cambelt, water pump and dephaser pulley service needed every 5 years does bump it up a bit. Don’t bother with Renault dealers, there’s plenty of specialists around that know their stuff that are far cheaper and will use genuine parts.
I’d recommend you buy one for the pure fun. They will be in demand in years to come like the 205 GTi is now. I part-ex’d Mine for an Impreza WRX but I’ll be buying another; Hopefully a Trophy but a standard 182 will still put a smile on my face.
