The estate hasn’t been tested by Euro NCAP, but the Clio hatchback received a five-star safety rating and it should perform just as well. Models get up to six airbags, but unfortunately, Renault has not made ESP standard across the range which does compromise Renault Clio Sport Tourer safety levels.

Choose the Skoda Fabia estate if your main priority is space. The Skoda by far eclipses the Renault for bootspace both seats up and down. Higher-spec models get a versatile split-folding rear seat as standard. Handily, the parcel shelf can be detached and stowed under the removable boot floor. For further carrying capacity, roof rails are fitted as standard.
