Renault Espace 2.9 RXE 5d (1993/K) Owner Review
-
Economy
Value
A lot of car / bus / van for the money (but try to make sure its not been abused in the past).
Costs
Ok its thirsty at 25 - 30mpg, but it runs on unleaded (cheaper than diesel) & if you need to go somewhere in a rush or you need power to overtake its ready under your right foot.

On the road
Driving
Comfortable good all round visibility and it handles really well considering the size.
Performance
With a good sound V6 engine and a relatively lightweight body you will have no trouble keeping up!
-
Living with it
Reliability
Probably the most dissapointing thing about the espace is the build quality (the owner before me spent many thousands keeping it on the road) but luckily I have only had to have a stater motor (£150 fitted) and a couple of bits of trim from the scrapyard.
Image
Not the latest bit of kit, but at least people don't point and laugh! in fact with the dark blue paint and the standard alloys I think it looks quite smart (but I am easily pleased)
Comfort
I love it, swivelling front seats, drinks trays, bags of room, all rear seats removable in seconds with no tools needed, a very flexible & comfortable vehicle.

Security and Service
Security
Not had any problems as yet with toe rags trying to break in, but I wouldn't think it's top of the list for boy racers (although maybe it should be?)
Service
I try to do most of the work myself so I can't comment.

Engine
Even with 160,000 on the clock it's quiet and smooth.
Other
Starter motor turned the engine over very slowly so I purchased a new battery, but it really needed a new starter motor (approx £150 fitted)
