Fuel economy
A more stringent standard for fuel economy (WLTP) was introduced from September 2017, and this model was not required to undergo that test.
Its fuel economy measured under the previous test system was 22 - 43 mpg. However these figures are less likely to be achievable in real world driving and so should never be compared to another car's mpg which was measured under the newer, more realistic WLTP system.

The Espace offers reasonable running costs and Renault servicing is competitive. However, emissions are quite high and there are no especially frugal engines in the range.
The Grand Espace is quite a polluting model, with average emissions of 220g/km CO2 across the model line-up. The 2.0 dCi engine is the most efficient choice, emitting 196g/km of CO2 and averaging 38mpg.
The Espace is now built by Renault (sounds bizarre, but previously it was manufacture red by another French firm on behalf of Renault). If feels sturdier and better built than before, but recent Renaults have had only average reliability.
