• Summary

What does this car say about you?

    I'm a family man first.

What do your friends / family / neighbours think of the car?

It's roomy, comfortable and practical but not proving very reliable and repair bills are getting expensive now it's out of warranty.

Would you buy this car again and why?

No. I wouldn't buy a Renault again because of reliability issues and cost of repairs. I probably wouldn't really need 7 seats again.

What are you likely to buy next?

Jeep Patriot or another compact 4x4.

Type of dealer you bought from?

    Franchise

Did you buy this car new?

    Yes

    What price did you pay?

    £12,775

When did you buy the car?

    December 1996

Did you get a good deal and why?

Superb deal on this special edition.

Is there any special reason why you bought this car?

Wanted a 6 or 7 seater MPV. Really wanted a Honda FRV, but this special edition car had over £5000 off the list price and a great spec, so was too good a deal to miss.

    What was the dealer like?

Friendly and easy to deal with.

  • Driving it

    4 out of 5 4.0

    What's it like to drive?

Good to drive, very comfortable, easy to adjust steering wheel and seating to suit driver. 1.6 petrol engine is surprisingly capable except on hills when the car is fully loaded.

    What's it like to park?

Optional rear parking sensors have proved invaluable.

Have you had any problems with the car?

Yes - repeated problems with the climate control air conditioning which was not resolved until the car went out of warranty and a recurrent problem with the central locking which the dealer has still not been rectify. There was also a fault with the car stereo which meant it stopped working and drained the battery when there were several days of sub-zero temperatures. This was a general fault and the stereo was eventually replaced free of charge.

What's most practical about your car?

The space - enormous boot, 7 seats, flexible rear seats, lots of storage cubbies. The rear (2nd/3rd row)seating would be even more practical if the second seats folded flat into the floor though.

    Favourite gadget, option or accessory?

    Cruise control.
