Economy
Value
Appealing used prices. 1995, high spec ex-fleet for under 2 grand.
Costs
Renault servicing too costly. Not easy DIY, but basics easy and cheap enough.

On the road
Driving
Handling excellent for a car of this size. Gearbox feels like a spoon in jelly. Nice smooth ride.
Performance
1.8 feels slightly underpowered and unrefined. Sits comfortably at 90 on the motorways.

Living with it
Reliability
So far so good. Minor electrical gremlins. Doesn't like hot starts on some days.
Image
Still looks good. Better than Mondeo and Cavalier by far.
Comfort
Smooth ride in and out of town - motorway driving is painless, especially with air con. Could do some serious miles without problems.

Security and Service
Security
Factory fitted immobiliser. Flaps to hide your nice aftermarket stereo from thieving gits.
Service
One dealer very helpful, one not so helpful. Prefer to do as much as possible myself to avoid stupid Renault servicing costs.

Problems and Ownership
Problems
Engine
Unrefined and not the best power delivery. Poor acceleration. Good(ish) fuel economy.
Other
Overall a pretty good car... Now getting to be good value for money.
