Economy
Value
Bought as ex-demonstrator. £5k under list with 3k on the clock - 6 months old.
Costs
Service costs are quite high, although 18,000-mile interval helps. Parts are expensive though.

On the road
Driving
Does not handle as well as the Mondeo I had before.
Performance
120bhp version goes well with good mid range pull once you get it on the boil. Gutless below 2000rpm - engine splutters between 1400-1800rpm. Dealer not able to resolve. Smokes badly under hard acceleration.

Living with it
Reliability
Engine lost power once on the M1 and clutch had to be replaced at just 28000m! Keyless sytem ok so far. Tyre pressue sensor needed replacing after new tyres fitted - cost £26 for part and £50 for system to be reset!
Comfort
Roomy and light. Driver's seat starting to creak after just 30000m, otherwise excellent for long journeys. Good room in the back, although headroom compromised for tall people. Gadgets a plenty, even on the base model but no elec windows in the rear :-(

Security and Service
Security
Standard fit security ok. No alarm on the base model. Central locking system has deadlock feature. Not been broken into. Yet! Excellent feeling of saftey inside - 8 airbags, seat belt tensioners etc etc as well as the infamous 5 star NCAP award...
Service
Clutch replaced under warranty, but dealer needed a lot of prompting to prevent this from becoming a nightmare! First service at 18,000 miles was £200. Next one due soon. Expecting higher cost.

Problems and Ownership
Problems
Engine
Sudden power loss and engine management warning light on dash. Stopped and restarted engine to clear fault. Dealer unable to find the cause.
Other
Driver's seat creaky. Various minor rattles and squeaks from the dash - none have been fixed by dealer, but shoving bits of paper in gaps helps.
