Renault Laguna Sport Tourer 1.9 dCi Privilege 5d (2001/X) Owner Review

Economy
Value
Nothing to match it at the time of purchase.
Costs
Again, having had its 1st service at 18,000 miles, I was very impressed by the low cost (~£130). Apprehensive about tyre costs though!

On the road
Driving
Ok - but the wide tyres force the steering wheel to follow the camber and ruts quite forcefully. The position of the car on the road needs constant readjustment.
Performance
Excellent. Power good, torque good, economy good. Towing leaves other estates standing. Begin to wonder what the 2.2 can do!

Living with it
Reliability
In 12k miles, card key replaced 3 times. Never left us stranded though. The car did jump into limp-home mode a couple of times - restricted engine power. Dealer dealt, but how seemed to be top secret!
Image
Great, although not a purchasing factor. Other features (value, safety, economy) about the car let it stand above its rivals.
Comfort
Good, but very poor rear legroom (especially considering size of car). Internal trim (grey velour) stains and wears very easily and quickly. Plenty of innovation to keep you smiling.

Security and Service
Security
No problems to date - touch wood. I don't fancy my chances of gaining entry without a key.
Service
Renault Cardiff lacks in every department. Only interested in the sale, even then I felt like a 3rd party. Bristol (SJCook) courteous and very efficient and will see my business.

Problems and Ownership
Problems
Engine
Smooth; regularly 'coughs' in 1st. Smokey. Will not tolerate pulling at low revs - misfires and coughs.
Other
Again, coughs at 1950rpm. Am I the only one to see this? Previous 1.9dti Megane never faltered.
Ownership
