Renault Megane Cabriolet (2003 - 2005) 1.6 VVT Dynamique 2d Owner Review

In their own words
£750! And the roof comes off! What more is there to say! It has 4 real seats (the adults in the front are not huge but it fits some decent size teenagers in the back) so its good for the less radical mid-life crisis. It doesn't go fast and it doesn't reward you for trying - but cruising about in it is a joy. Mine was from 2004 it was both knackered and a relic compared to my brand new Skoda Superb that it sits next to on the drive ..... but, if I can possibly justify it I jump in the £750 pile of junk to go just about anywhere rather than the £30K's worth of large luxury tech enabled VW group engineering. Of course its a bit silly, but its fun silly and its a 2nd car that can do everything that a real car can do so is very easy to justify.
How reliable do you find the car?
I bought an old banger with a list of typically Renault issues (eg, electric windows don't work on the passenger side) - but it got through an MOT, no new issues since, starts every time, no nerves driving it, the roof moves faultlessly and I think it holds its own as a 16 year old car.Does the car do everything you expected it to do?
You just can't put a price on the joy that comes from cruising about with the roof down and the stereo up (for a pudgy 46 year old office dweller). But - this only cost me £750 and its a bargain. On top of that - it fits (genuinely fits) 4 people in and has turned out to be far more useful than I ever imagined. In 2020 lock down - taking the family out in a convertible to go for a walk in the country then taking the long way home with the roof down has been amazing.About their car
