Summary
What does this car say about you?
Not sure............
What do your friends / family / neighbours think of the car?
they love it, very comfortable and looks good with the roof up or down, looks sporty with the smooth curves in the shape, looks more streamline than the focus cabriolet
Would you buy this car again and why?
no, mainly due to problems that have occured, the likes of Mazda, BMW, Mercedes etc, have learnt from their mistakes with cabriolets, and rectified them, Renault seem to keep making the same mistake every year, everyone seems to have the same issues
What are you likely to buy next?
Not sure, don't think i could afford anything for a few years, car has depreciated in value by £8500, in 2 years.

Buying experience
Type of dealer you bought from?
Independent
Did you buy this car new?
No
What price did you pay?
£13,000
When did you buy the car?
September 2007
Did you get a good deal and why?
Not really, got a good deal on my trade in, 06 Picanto with high mileage - £3000, but looking back don't think i got what i wanted for the money.
Is there any special reason why you bought this car?
I always wanted a cabriolet, had test driven the eos, and wasn't won over, liked the smooth shape of the megane, and liked the hard top with all glass roof.
What was the dealer like?
very good, to start with, partner has bought a number of cars from them, but after care service was not good at all.

Driving it
What's it like to drive?
Very good, think it has a lot of power, after the first couple of weeks of getting used to the change from 1st to 2nd runs well, find it good on fuel, currently getting 40mpg, lot of motorway driving though, do about 15k miles a year, tend to use more stopping and starting in towns
What's it like to park?
very good, don't find the high boot an issue, good mirrors and rear window

Living with it
Have you had any problems with the car?
yes, within 1st 12 months, Coil went, causing the car to start hunting continuously, apparently a common fault on these cars, tend to go every 12 months or so, but don't go to renault will cost you £100+, local garage should only charge £30+ labour, stereo has had to be fixed about 5 times, steering wheel started making a clicking noise, turns out i needed a new steering switch (£500) air bag could have gone off at any time while driving, the car has picked up faults from other renault megane's causing my display to tell me my steering had gone and actually stopped me from steering properly, had to turn off engine and restart on a dual carriage way. Car wouldn't tick over, had to keep it over 2000 rev's when stationary or engine would cut out.
What's most practical about your car?
The large boot, and the comfort on long journeys
Favourite gadget, option or accessory?
Glass roof, hard top convertible, very good sound system
