From launch there were 1.6 or 2.0-litre petrol engines to choose from neither of which offer especially spirited performance. The 2.0-litre only has 138bhp. Or there’s a 120bhp turbodiesel with 221lb-ft of torque that pulls harder on the motorway. Other units have joined the line-up since launch, with a 2.0-litre turbo unit with 165bhp adding a bit more punch to the range and 1.5 and 2.0-litre diesels adding extra options from 2006 too.
As you may have gathered from the engine section – this ain’t a sportscar. It doesn’t handle like one, there’s little feedback or chassis composure, but it cruises comfortably if you aren’t rushing about and suffers from fewer wobbles through the bodywork because of the softer set-up.
