Renault Megane Coupe 1.6 16V Sport Alize 2d (1999/T) Owner Review

Economy
Value
Like every other Renault, its value for money, but keep in mind that you get what you pay for.
Costs
Car cost me £3300 and is 1999, with 42,000 miles. Driving easy the on-board computer says I'm doing 44mpg, but I've seen mine drop to 26mpg when my foot felt heavy. Usually it stays around 38ish. Parts are very cheap.

On the road
Driving
Found the suspension to be a bit "floaty" on the bends, it had too much roll. So I lowered it a bit, which seems to make it handle fantastically around corners.
Performance
Its a very nice step up from the 1.2 Clio I had before. 110bhp is decent enough, and there's more than enough torque to get you up a steep hill.

Living with it
Reliability
So-so, creaky interior. Common Renault faults include the coil packs failing, but hasn't happened to me yet, and the rear shocks snapping in two (new Monroe shocks cost me £20 each). I've had no bother other than the back shocks.
Image
Has a brilliant stance once lowered 30-40 mm, and in my opinion "cherry red" is the only colour for them. The yellow colour is too "in your face".
Comfort
Sports seats with high bolsters and firm cushions. I find the seat too wide for my narrow build. Backseat leg room is non-existent (that's NOT a joke).

Security and Service
Security
I think the car only has an immobiliser, so I've bought a ""disk-lok"" for added security. It looks like someone tried my passenger door lock before but failed.
Service
I've never went to the manufacturer, local cheap garage does all my work.
