Renault Megane Coupe 2.0 2d Auto (1999/V) Owner Review
-
Economy
Value
Mine was four years old and cost £5k - not a lot for what is a resonably GTi-beating fast car.
Costs
None major so far, apart from fuel. 40mpg is achievable on long journeys with a light foot, but around town on a heavy foot it's ridiculously poor.

Driving
The car doesn't cope well on wet roads - too much torque causes a lot of spinning. If pushed too hard, an inexperienced drivier could lose it.
Performance
Excellent. Not let down yet apart form the handling as previously stated, but still very pleasing in a straight line.

Living with it
Reliability
Only had it a month.
Image
Nice car, but don't understand what everybody in other reviews is going on about "ruined by 1.6 models". This is a 2.0 litre car - use it right and you'll have no image problems.
Comfort
Front is fine but the back is laughable; it is a coupe, though.

Security and Service
Security
Mine at the standard and an aftermarket CAT 1, so no complaints.
Service
Nothing needed yet.
