Renault Megane Coupe (2009 - 2016) 1.5 dCi (110bhp) Dynamique TomTom 3d Owner Review

In their own words
This is a review for the 3 door Coupe version.
The Coupe is a great, solid car. Fun to drive and quite pokey considering it's a diesel. Mpg is way out at the moment - I'm averaging 30-40 yet that's probably because I've not owned it long and being a bit heavy on the gas pedal. Inside, compared to other makes, the trim is excellent and doesn't look or feel all plastic. All controls are nicely laid out and easily accessible when driving. The integrated Head unit/sat-nav took a while to figure out but then who reads instruction manuals? Driving, the car is quite firm but not to the extent of yelling in pain when you hit a bump. Steering is light at low speeds and becomes heavier the faster you go. The model I own has the ERS so traction control and all that jazz. I've not tried it switched off yet so no idea how the car handles without it. Enabled though, you can throw it about and seems to just stick and go wherever you point it. I'm still struggling with the gears (coming from a laguna) and find 1st is way too short on range. Feels like the moment you pull away you have to go straight to 2nd and all within a second!
Noticeable driving aids include auto headlights, wipers, car entry, gear change vdu on the dash and reversing sensors.
Rear passengers will moan due to lack of leg and head room but then that's not the reason you get the Coupe version. The 5 door is family/passenger friendly - the 3 door is the let's have fun version.
The Coupe is becoming harder to find as people are wising up to the fact that you get a lot of car for your money compared to other makes and models and they're beginning to hold their value (and increase in resale price)! Renault after 2010 seem to have finally got on top of the electrical issues that so plagued earlier models which is a God send.
The different model variants can be quite confusing yet most buyers will go for the mid "dynamique" range which offer the best value for money.
Go test drive a few yourselves and be pleasantly surprised.
How reliable do you find the car?
So far, no issues. And looking through the full history, nothing is showing either. Renault have really got on top of things compared to pre 2010 models.Does the car do everything you expected it to do?
One little thing which surprised me is the display to tell you the optimum moment to either go up or down a gear. One of those things I'm surprised sellers don't list!About their car
