Everyone thought it was lovely but didn't envy the reliability problems.

Would you buy this car again and why?

Absolutely NO, because I expect a car to be reliable.

What are you likely to buy next?

The Megane was replaced by a Mazda 2 (reviewed elsewhere on Parkers).

For the size, mileage and condition of the car I paid a fair price.

Is there any special reason why you bought this car?

Wanted something bigger and safer to replace my ultra-reliable and trusty Corsa.

What was the dealer like?

Generally the delear was very good and the sales assistant was very helpful without being pushy.

What's it like to drive?

Megane is a superb car to drive, when its working. Even the 1.5 DCi doesn't feel underpowered and the car cruises beautifully - at times you could imagine you are driving a much more expensive car (until it breaks down for the umpteenth time). The driving position, aided by great ergonomics and lovely seats, is excellent and the car handles bends, weather conditions, and other issues very capably indeed. I drove very long journeys without ever feeling fatigued. This was partly due to the excellent suspension and its ability to smooth out all but the very worst roads.

What's it like to park?

Visibility is a slight issue thanks to the shape and the Megane is not small car, so it can be difficult to park.

Have you had any problems with the car?

I sold the car about 14 months ago due to a catalogue of problems and reliability issues in the first year + of ownership. In a short space of time I had water ingress, starting problems (both electrical and mechanical), alternator failure, brake issues, ECU failure, and turbo failure as well as numerous creaks and rattles.

What's most practical about your car?

Its reasonably spacious.

Nothing.
