Summary
What does this car say about you?
Embarrasingly, that I was fooish to buy a car I hadn't driven. I trusted that a Mk III 1.5dCi would be an improvement on the excellent Mk II 1.5dCi.
What do your friends / family / neighbours think of the car?
That it looks good.
Would you buy this car again and why?
Absolutely not. It is exhausting to drive, requiring constant gear changes.
What are you likely to buy next?
Most likely a Citroen or a Kia.

Buying experience
Type of dealer you bought from?
Franchised
Did you buy this car new?
Yes
What price did you pay?
£14,000
When did you buy the car?
March 2012
Did you get a good deal and why?
The price of the new car seemed very competitive. In March they appeared keen to beat second hand prices on new cars.
Is there any special reason why you bought this car?
Previously owned a Megane II 1.5dCi and was very impressed by it.
What was the dealer like?
Of an acceptable standard of service.

Driving it
What's it like to drive?
Dreadful. Despite being a dCi, it drives like a car which is suffering from fuel starvation. And, at the rate it guzzles the stuff, it certainly cannot be starving! The pillar between windscreen and driver door is so wide that it creates a massive blind spot. 6th gear is almost redundant as it cannot be used much below 65MPH.
What's it like to park?
Difficult to see out of. Not helped by faulty reverse sensors.

Living with it
Have you had any problems with the car?
I certainly don't smile when I sit behind the wheel! The reverse sensors don't work, even after two repair attempts. Fuel consumption is atrocious in comparison with my Mk II Megane. Storage space has been drastically reduced since the Mk II.
What's most practical about your car?
Remote door and window locking.
Favourite gadget, option or accessory?
Bluetooth phone is useful. Auxiliary USB music is much enjoyed.
