Summary
What does this car say about you?
What do your friends / family / neighbours think of the car?
They like the look of it, especially as it's bright yellow. It sounds good too apparently.
Would you buy this car again and why?
No I would not. I am glad I have had one but I think it has pretty much put me off Renault for a while. At least the Megane range anyway.
What are you likely to buy next?
If a hot hatch then I will stick with German or Jap. I would like something that is more everyday friendly, has power and comfort and build quality. The Megane is more of a weekend toy I feel, if it wouldn't keep having electrical issues.

Buying experience
Type of dealer you bought from?
Independent
Did you buy this car new?
No
What price did you pay?
£7,800
When did you buy the car?
October 2014
Did you get a good deal and why?
At first I thought I had based on the low mileage and the stated history of owners.
Is there any special reason why you bought this car?
As having 3 previous Renaultsport Clios, I always wanted a Megane R26, felt I would enjoy that step up to it's big brother...
What was the dealer like?
Awful. Great set up, lovely building, seem polite at first, until you hand them money, then simply don't want to know. No help when I had problems, wouldn't address issues that were "apparently" covered by their 3 month warranty. I could go on. Lymington cars, personally I would avoid.

Driving it
What's it like to drive?
Noisier inside than most cars when driving around town. Very bumpy, you will feel everything in this car. Recaro bucket seats are a personal preference, some will like them, some won't. So this can be a deciding factor on how comfortable it is to drive. But it's all about performance with this, it will always put a smile on your face. It's quick, not super quick but feels faster than it is as it handles so well round corners. This car would be amazing on a track.
What's it like to park?
Easy enough if you are good at parking. Not the best visibility, so shorter drivers might struggle especially with the bucket seats as there is very limited adjustment.

Living with it
Have you had any problems with the car?
Exhaust mounts snapped, causing the exhaust to drop onto the bumper and burn the paint off. Door handle cap fell off, had to get a new one which Renault couldn't supply of the same shade of colour. Air conditioning stopped working. Electric window stopped working. Lights went out due to blown fuse. Then lights went out again due to another blown fuse, which this time the fuse was located in the secondary fuse box in the engine bay. Which is very hard to get to, so Renault had to do at a cost of £140. Developed an awful rattle in the dash (common problem) but fixable. Wipers gave up, managed to fix them myself but I still have no working rear one. I could go on and on but most others are just annoying niggles. I would like to say that is all within the first month of ownership.
What's most practical about your car?
You don't buy this car to be practical to be honest.
Favourite gadget, option or accessory?
Cubby holes in the foot wells are extremely handy.
