Summary
What does this car say about you?
I value performance over comfort and practicality.
What do your friends / family / neighbours think of the car?
Looks nice at first glance but that "quality" French craftmanship shines through eventually.
Would you buy this car again and why?
No. Build quality is just not good enough.
What are you likely to buy next?
Already got a BMW 430d on the way.

Buying experience

Franchised
Did you buy this car new?
No
What price did you pay?
£0
When did you buy the car?
February 2013
Did you get a good deal and why?
I wouldn't say I got a particularly good deal. I didn't get a load of money off but the car was a decent price anyway.
Is there any special reason why you bought this car?
Performance & handling.
What was the dealer like?
Dealer was very friendly and pleasant to deal with. Standard salesman but I would deal with him again... if he didn't work for Renault.

Driving it
What's it like to drive?
Performance and handling wise it's great. Handling is particularly impressive and there's no torque steer despite being FWD. However, this directly impacts it being a very hard ride. And on a motorway the wind and road noise through the tyres is chronic and is the reason I am getting rid of it soon. I have recently moved and now have to travel 80 miles a day on the motorway and it is awful. On long journeys with my partner we near enough have to shout at each other to have a conversation. Couple it with a hard ride and it is exceptionally unpleasant on long journeys. The stereo sound quality is pretty rubbish as well so to drown the road and wind noise out you have to have the stereo at two thirds of full volume just to hear people talking clearly.
What's it like to park?
Not too bad but due to poor cabin visibility in all directions it can be difficult. Rear parking sensors help but none at the front mean I often think I'm bumper to bumper when in fact I've got a good two foot of room.

Living with it
Have you had any problems with the car?
Nothing major. However, I have had a knocking noise from the front windscreen when it's been a hot day and the surrounding materials have expanded. It is normally at its worst when in the evening and it's beginning to cool down. I have taken this to two dealers on more than one occasion and neither could replicate the problem. I forwarded on videos of it happening but still nothing was done about it.
What's most practical about your car?
Decent sized boot. Nothing special though.
Favourite gadget, option or accessory?
The car was pretty much vanilla. I bought it nearly new so I had no say in any extras. Favourite gadget is probably the sport button!
