Renault Megane Sport Tourer (2009 - 2016) 1.5 dCi GT Line Nav 5d Owner Review

I would never buy another one again. The good points:- the driver's seat is comfortable and it gets a god MPG on the motorway. The boot is a useful size, although there's nowhere to store the tonneau cover if you take it off. The bad points:- the infotainment system is useless. it appears to have been programmed by someone who was never going to have to use it. It's clunky, slow and cumbersome to use. Examples include, if you want to turn it off then it switches everything off on the screen including the Bluetooth phone connection. So if you want to receive a phone call, you have to have it switched on. You can mute the radio etc, so not a big deal, but then when you hang up from a phone call it turns the stereo back on again. There is no way to search your albums from the one you're playign without going right back through the whole menu. You can't just select another album by the same artist, you need to scroll through the list again and find them. The touchscreen is positioned so far away as to be useless, and the Renault version of i-drive is far too inaccurate to use when you're driving. If your passenger uses it, they get in the way of you changing gear. Speaking of the gears, the gap between 1st and 2nd is huge. So many slow corners in town that you'd normally take in 2nd find you coming out of the corner and nearly stalling - you have no power to pull away, but you're going too fast to be able to drop into 1st. It can make it dangerous t roundabouts if you arrive at one, almost stop and realise there's a gap only to find you've got no torque to speed up. The cup holder (that's right, holder singular) is useless. it's been pushed so far forward in the centre console to accomodate the buttons for the sat nav that you can only fit a normal sized drinks can in there. Any size coffee cup, bar the expresso sized ones will not fit properly. That's the only drinks holder, and it's also next to the only place where you can put anything else you have like a wallet etc. So, if you want to get your drink out and have a sip, you often find that something has fallen into the drinks holder whilst you've had your drink in hand. It's could be a great car, it's just been really badly thought out. Thankfully, it was a company car and I get a new one in January.
