Summary
What does this car say about you?
Being 25 with a family diesel estate probably says I'm dull as dishwater to a few people but I'm a practical person with a tendency to be sensible and a car that can accommodate all my paraphernalia, do 30,00 miles a year and return a regular average of 65mpg ticks all my boxes, not to mention it can be quite nippy when needed.
What do your friends / family / neighbours think of the car?
Think its great, gets everyone and their kit in with comfort and gets us to where we're going in legendary French comfort.
Would you buy this car again and why?
Yes, all round brilliant car would be stupid not to consider another.
What are you likely to buy next?
My dream car is a Land Rover Defender so will look at some of them but if my pockets aren't deep enough it will definitely be an estate and based on my experience so far it may well be a Renault or at least French.

Buying experience
Type of dealer you bought from?
Independent
Did you buy this car new?
No
What price did you pay?
£4,500
When did you buy the car?
May 2013
Did you get a good deal and why?
Car was already a bargain as they regularly went for a similar price with twice the miles this one had. Not only that but the car was immaculate inside and out. Dealer also gave me a good party exchange price on my old car which wasn't in the best of conditions following a dodgy aerosol respray on the rear corner by the previous owner which I hadn't got around to sorting out, a leaking steering rack and the need of a new front bearing. Dealer also the in a service and mot and I negotiated a tank of diesel out of them too.
Is there any special reason why you bought this car?
Well equipped, spacious, brilliant fuel economy and had low mileage.
What was the dealer like?
Great, small independent car sales lot that's been around for years. Chap was in the middle of doing an MOT for a friend so left us to it but was great when we asked questions and took it for a spin.

Driving it
What's it like to drive?
So easy and relaxed its a dream. Motorway, city, town, rural it takes it all in its stride. Just bear in mind the extra length and alloy wheels when in tight spots and your laughing. Steering is lightly weighted for manouvres and suitably heavy on the road without being a drag. Lends itself to a relaxing driving style but the engine is a peach with 106hp and a turbo and it can sure pick up quickly for a family estate car and is superb at over taking, it even pulls well in 6th..whats not to like about this car, it can do everything you ask of it !
What's it like to park?
So long as you remember its a fairly long car (I moved up to this from a Ford Ka) and take it steady its absolutely fine to park. Lots of glass in the rear and sides so good visibility all around and being an estate the back is almost flat so you see the end of the car really no having to judge for overhangs. I find the reversing sensors kick in quite early and are super senstitve, picking up tall grass etc so always use them to aid rather than a definitive guide. Lovely big mirrors too help you see all around.

Living with it
Have you had any problems with the car?
The drivers window went down on its own one day when I locked it at the office and wouldn't come back up. I eventually got it back up somehow but could hear the motor whirring away every few seconds so I quickly took the fuse out to lock kt in the up position. Eventually took it to the garage when itwas due its MOT and they sorted it all out by adjusting the position of the motor slightly which had apparently was under pressure causing the safety pinch function to kick in. No troubles since and that was 6 months ago.
What's most practical about your car?
The enormous boot ! What can't you put in it ? And on the rare occasion you need more room the seats fold flat and it turns into a van. There's also a huge glovebox, door pockets, central console storage cubby and cubbies in the floor in the front, perfect for towing eye and rope which I always tend to need when the boot is full !
Favourite gadget, option or accessory?
Cruise control, I work in Somerset but live in North Wales and travel there and back every week. Get the megane on the motorway, up into 6th, point it at home and hit the cruise control and let the car do the work and enjoy the comfy seats and brilliant sound system. I also love the average MPG readout and play the game of getting it as high as I can which on a motorway job regularly hits 65mpg (highest I've got is 67!) and even in rural Wales and rural Somerset it never drops below 56.
