Renault Safrane Hatchback 2.2 Executive 5d Auto (1997/P) Owner Review
-
Economy
Value
Mercedes-competing luxury car for very cheap.
Costs
Fuel ecomomy is bad and so is insurance, not to mention the things that have gone wrong.
-
On the road
Driving
Lots of bodyroll, although easy to drive.
Performance
Great acceleration and good top speed.
-
Living with it
Reliability
Totally unreliable! Not so many electrical problems unlike the Laguna but more major problems such as gearbox and other mechanical problems.
Image
Would be as good as a Merc but the Renault badge lets it down. Great looks on both, especially the facelift model.
Comfort
Climate control, cruise control, you name a luxury and the Safrane has it! Very smooth ride and extremely comfortable seats.

Security and Service
Security
Average, immobiliser and alarm.
Service
Didn't bother after about a year or so.
