Renault Safrane Hatchback 2.2 Vi Executive 5d (1995/N) Owner Review

Economy
Value
A lot of car for not a lot of money. It's got more toys than Price Harry.
Costs
So far not too bad. 28mpg on the daily commute is bearable. One electric window went, but fortunately I was in France, so it only cost 312 Euros!

On the road
Driving
What it lacks in performance, it makes up for in comfort.
Performance
I once had a 1.3-litre Metro that could take this one out at the traffic lights! Its not going to break any land speed limits.
-
Living with it
Reliability
Always starts, although sometimes it gets confused by the immobiliser.
Image
No one exactly turns their heads unless they're really close up and can see all that lovely leather. It looks pretty good from the front although it's not going to win any beauty contests from behind.
Comfort
No contest! Keep your BMWs and Mercs. This is the smoothest car I've ever been in (and I sat in a Roller on my Wedding day).

Security and Service
Security
It's not a hot hatch. No one's going to nick it. It refuses to start unless it recognises its own key, anyway.
Service
N/A - I use an independent. The resale value isn't exactly going to fund the deposit on my retirement home in France, after all.
