Renault Safrane 1993-
  • Economy

    Value

    5 out of 5 5.0

I paid under £500 for my car and it's in excellent condition.

    Costs

    3 out of 5 3.0

Average running costs returns on average around 16 miles to the gallon, which considering it's capacity, isn't to bad.

    Driving

    5 out of 5 5.0

Very smooth and effortless, i had a 2.2 executive and then i upgraded to the 3.0 litre. The ride is aided by adjustable suspension (in the 3 litre), cruise control and PAS, it's a cracking drive all round.

    Performance

    4 out of 5 4.0

Very good, it can hold its own when tested and it's smooth yet potent V6 delivers in spades when called upon.

  • Living with it

    Reliability

    4 out of 5 4.0

As i said i have owned two and they are fine in the reliability stakes.

    Image

    2 out of 5 2.0

The only downside is it's plain and droll to look at, but once you have sat inside you will be shocked. It's 20 times a Jag, so much comfort i was amazed, 'Parker's' say it lacks prestige, but you only have to be in one to know that they are wrong.

    Comfort

    5 out of 5 5.0

This really is in a class of it's own honestly, i cannot see how people rant about Jags (i have owned three, last one being an XJ6 3.2 S), the Safrane's spec is far superior the leather is gorgeous and the gismos are unrivalled well done Renault.
