Renault Scenic (2003 - 2009) 2.0 VVT Dynamique S 5d Owner Review
Want to know everything there is to know about this car?
In their own words
I thought carefully before buying as ihad only £1500 to spend but decided that a medium mpv was what i needed. This one came up and though it had high mileage it was the holy grail of used cars, only one owner with full dealer service history and absolutely every bill kept in a file in the car. I have covered 20k in a year with only one issue (failed heater fan relay- fixed in 1 hour for £30 by a mate) so cannot complain about reliability. It is still immaculate inside and out bar some sagging in the drivers seat squab cover, and discoloration to the front grille nostrils. Build quality seems to be excellent with no rattles apart from the glass roof in sub-zero temperatures, probably down to water in the rubber seals freezing. To drive it is surprisingly swift and very quiet and refined, though the steering is a bit dead feeling. It feels a lot like my Dads Citroen C6 to drive, which is a compliment - very relaxed and wafty. French manufacturers seem to understand that enjoying the journey is more important than how fast you can get there. Having said that, this is not a car to thrash round twisty country lanes, but that was not what it was designed to do and not what i need in a car. Economy about what you would expect -even setting cruise at 70 on long trips i have never bettered 40mpg but average of about 32mpg is decent. This car has surpised me in how proud i am of it, and how much i enjoy driving it. I bought it as a workhorse but it is so much more than that. Based on my own experience i would recommend it.
How reliable do you find the car?
Only problem was failed heater fan. Admittedly in the snow on M1 on Boxing Day! Easily fixed by mechanic mate for 30 quid.About their car
