Renault Symbioz verdict
Yes. As far as family SUVs go, the Symbioz is a cracking effort. A car like this was never going to blow our socks off with nerve-tingling performance, nor knead our senses in decadent luxury. It’s a family car, built for family life – strong, sturdy, comfortable and efficient.
The Symbioz ticks all of those boxes emphatically… but is it as good as its rivals? We think the Renault’s latest effort is more stylish and a little more desirable than the Qashqai, though I reckon the latter car has a slightly more luxurious interior. It’s no less comfortable, nor less useable in terms of power than the Japanese car, but starting from under 30 grand, it makes a great case for itself as the better deal.
In need of a new family car, but don’t require all the space of the Austral? The Symbioz should certainly be on your shortlist.
What we like
The Symbioz feels well-built, comfortable and it’s highly efficient. It has a hugely commodious boot for its class and comes with mountains of tech as standard. Not to mention that very agreeable starting price tag.
What we don’t like
Doesn’t have a huge battery, so can’t run on electric power for very long, nor can it be charged up at the plug as it isn’t a plug in. ICE unit can be quite irksome, as it’s not very refined.
