Not available in UK after 2006 so this one will have to do me until it's time to downsize

Something smaller but with high seating position, practical interior and good economy - perhaps a Skoda yeti or Peugeot 3008

Really good value second hand; the most comfortable and best equipped car for the money, plus good performance and economy

Driving it
What's it like to drive?
Exceptionally comfortable front and rear seats. Effortless cruising - in its element on fast French roads where we can cruise all day at speed limits and still get 40+ mpg. A cruiser, not something to chuck about aggressively on B roads

Large but the rear parking sensors help

Living with it
Have you had any problems with the car?
Yes - two separate leaks in air con piping - back in 2007 and again this year - total repair cost around £900. Couple of new tyres - quite pricey - around £220 each. Otherwise pretty reliable
What's most practical about your car?
Great access with higher seats and big doors. makes it very easy get my 89 year old father in and out. Pretty big boot and rear seats that fold down. Coped well with children going to and fro to university, managed to fit a single mattress in when moving a son from one flat to another!
Favourite gadget, option or accessory?
sat nav, multi adjustable electric seats, cruise control, sun roof, sun blinds on all rear windows - lots of useful toys to play with and all work fine
