Renault Zoe Hatchback i Iconic R110 ZE 50 auto 5d Owner Review
Want to know everything there is to know about this car?
In their own words
The electric driving experience is amazing! The car is quiet, very responsive and enjoyable, and the ability to charge at home is so convenient. I would never go back to a petrol car.
Unfortunately, the Zoe is simply not a good car in all other aspects. I’ve had nothing but problems with it from the moment I drove it off the forecourt and it has been extremely difficult to get anyone at Renault to take the issues seriously. With no apology, they did replace the telematics unit but that required them to have the car, only a couple months old at this point, for almost a month. I was also expected to pay for the petrol in the manual courtesy car they provided, which had not even been cleaned since the last person had used it (full of crumbs and mud streaked across the back seats). Upon complaining, I was compensated with the return of my pcp cost for the month and my petrol money back, and did receive an apology from the branch manager that obviously didn’t get through to his front line staff as I received a call from one of them a week or so later requesting I submit a review of my experience and that Renault see anything less than a perfect score as a failure so they would really appreciate if I could give a perfect score.
I will definitely be looking elsewhere for an electric car once my lease on this one is finished.
How reliable do you find the car?
The telematics unit (connectivity) didn’t work when collecting the car. It’s was replaced (as couldn’t be fixed) a few months later but still doesn’t work perfectly. There is also a multitude of small issues with the electronics in the car, notably:
The automatic headlights don’t work consistently,
The screen wash does not always come out but the pump can be heard working,
There is a click in the glove box (fuses I’m guessing) which happens every time the rear wiper moves,
The sound on the R-Link system will sometimes randomly not function at all (including parking sensors etc.) and the only way to fix it is to walk away from the car for 10 minutes,
The wireless phone charger always returns the error message “remove metal from charging plate” when I try to use it (maybe this is just with iPhones),
The automatic rear windscreen wiper system doesn’t work at all and when on that setting it just runs all the time, even when it’s been dry for days,
The consumption and range data resets spontaneously so the car never has an accurate reading of the mpkwh or range before needing a charge.
There are many more stupid, little things but these are the main ones.
Does the car do everything you expected it to do?
Many of the selling points that make the car worth the high price tag simply don’t work and no one at my dealership will take responsibility to fix them.
