Rover 100 Hatchback 1.1 GSi 5d (1995/N) Owner Review

Economy
Value
Good value considering the equipment fitted as standard. Few other small cars offer so much for the money.
Costs
Servicing costs are cheap. Some electrical parts are expensive. Rear wiper motor cost over £60!

On the road
Driving
Fun to drive with good handling. Parking is easy due to large glass area and small dimensions.
Performance
The 1.1 litre engine is lively but struggles on hills and when overtaking.

Living with it
Reliability
Generally OK. The ECU went after only 12,000 miles but all has been well since.
Image
Colour coded bumpers and mirrors look good, as do the standard alloys. However it is still really a Metro!
Comfort
We fit two adults and a baby into ours on a daily basis. It's cramped then, but fine when just one person is in it. The driving position is good and the seats are quite supportive.

Security and Service
Security
It's never been stolen but then I live in the back of beyond!
Service
Our main dealer has something of a monopoly. I tend to use independent garages who are much much cheaper
