Rover 100 Hatchback 1.1 SE Kensington 5d (1995/N) Owner Review

Economy
Value
I bought mine for £1000 a year and a half ago with tax and MOT, and has been worth every penny! There are also a lot of very low mileage cars around that have been well looked after!
Costs
Cheap tax and insurance, quite reasonable petrol consumption except when you push it hard. Had a new petrol tank after the old one started leaking (cost £130 inc tax & labour) which isn't too bad i think.

On the road
Driving
It's a very fun car to drive, fairly light steering, and very nimble! Great town car and first car!
Performance
Not at all bad for a 1.1, fairly nippy and not bad acceleration (gears 1-3)

Living with it
Reliability
Starts first time every time! Even after being stood in the freezing cold for 2 weeks! Minor niggles with the suspension that sags after a while, but a simple job of pumping up needed. the suspension also squeaks and knocks slightly though.
Image
Very cute from the front, slightly dated rear, but made up for that with Kermit the frog (my car is green too) which catches peoples attention! And makes them giggle.
Comfort
For being such a small car, I (being the driver) find it very comfortable. The only thing i would say is that you feel slightly vulnerable because it is such a small car. But it is quite spacious none the less!

Security and Service
Security
Central locking, alarm and immobiliser as standard, although the central locking loves to play games! Immobiliser quite effective (which, along with the alarm, also has a mind of its own)
Service
Did not use a main rover dealer for any servicing etc, local friends garage is just as reliable (and cheaper)
