Rover 100 Hatchback 1.1i Kensington 3d (1995/N) Owner Review

Economy
Value
Bargain used prices, may be worth looking for higher spec SE (elec windows etc). Get one with painted bumpers as they look in a different class.
Costs
Very economical to run. Insurance only group 3. Exhaust, brakes and tyres cheaper than others cars I've owned.

On the road
Driving
Good handling and grip. Ideal as a starter car as it is easy to manoever and has good all round visability.
Performance
More than adequate around town with better performance than I expected from a 1.1. Strugles a bit on motorways.

Living with it
Reliability
Only wear and tear from tyres, exhaust etc. Started first time everytime.
Image
Will always be a Metro in most peoples eyes - don't let it put you off! Is a great little car and can be an absolute bargain. Mine was Metallic red which helped to hide the bits of rear arch rust - don't have white.
Comfort
Good driving position, I'm just over 6' and had plenty of legroom, as for rear pasengers that's a different story. Not many adjustments i.e no seatbelt height, steering wheel height, seat height or support adjusters. It either fits you or it doesn't.

Security and Service
Security
Standard alarm and immobiliser. Never had it stolen or broken into.
Service
Never used main dealer due to costs, most work can be DIY.
