Rover 100 Hatchback 1.1i Kensington 5d (1995/N) Owner Review
-
Economy
Value
Can pick up a model fairly cheaply. Secure and economic to run.

On the road
Driving
Reliable. Steering sharp, maintains speed and has good road holding in wet conditions. Brakes can be vague, though.
Performance
Perfect for city driving. Nippy and good for high speeds if only carrying one or two, but any extra weight has notable slowing effect. Can be unresponsive on upward slopes.

Living with it
Reliability
Have noticed electrical problems if not used for a while (am student so leave it at home) and had to replace starter motor, but believe this is due to previous owner. Always starts immediately in cold.
Image
Quite retro, so ok for students, but a bit old-fashioned compared to genuine old Metros.
Comfort
Comfortable front seats and reasonable suspension, but back very cramped - no leg room if sitting behind a taller driver!
-
Security and Service
Security
Immobiliser faultless, though alarm does tend to have mind of its own and goes off in busy car parks!
