Economy
Value
Cannot find a better/ newer car for less money.
Costs
Some servicing could be costly if not maintained correctly.

On the road
Driving
Metros have always been fun! Its like a go-kart with a huge engine!
Performance
Very nippy - more than enough around town, holds its own on the motorway - best around twisty B roads!
-
Living with it
Reliability
Should be fine if maintained correctly, check fan switch is working - could lead to head gasket failure if not put right.
Image
Image? I could not care less.
Comfort
Improved over older Metros. Beware, some high milers may have saggy seats. Don't complain about being cramped in the back - if you don't want a small car... don't buy a small car!

Security and Service
Security
Alarm/ Immobiliser as standard, but sadly 80s doorlocks let the side down.
Service
Touch-an-go. SLM Rover tried to charge me £500 for head gasket repair it didnt need. Skinners Rover have been very helpful.

Problems and Ownership
Problems
Engine
Fine. Check fan switch, coolant level and oil level regularly.
Other
1980s central locking motors are noisey and can give up, I recommend replacing with Maplins replacements - quieter and more reliable, cheaper too.
